A Note from Jackie

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed some extra time for relaxation and fun this past weekend. We had the chance to relax, had family for a cookout, and even an impromptu block party on the 4 th of July! This has made for a short week for us, and we’re very busy catching up on orders. So, I have nothing new to upload today – but a ton of restock items that arrived! Watch tomorrow for the new Cherry Arte collection which will be arriving, as well as preorders for new items coming soon!

A few notes from me:

More Layouts in Less Time

The design team is working hard this month to show you ways to refine the sometimes long process of designing layouts. By using some of the ideas we introduce, you will complete more layouts, and in less time! This means your scrapbooking time will efficiently fit between your trips to the beach, and day out at the ball game. Don’t sacrifice design just because your many summer activities are pulling you every direction!

Scraplift Yourself

By: Vickie Brown, Design Team Member

As summer gets underway, we often find that between playdates, trips to the swimming pool, baseball practices and out of town guests, our time is certainly at a premium! Finding the extra time you need to continue creating layouts for yourself and your family might seem like quite the task, but fear not, inspiration is as close as your own albums! Just because you’ve already used a design once, that certainly does not mean that you cannot use it again-- quite the contrary! Do contractors build more than one house using the same floor plan? Do coaches use the same playbook over and over with different results each time? Do you use the same favorite recipe more than once? Of course the answer is a resounding “yes!”, and you can too!

This week, the design team urges you to look no further than your own albums and gallery to find your inspiration and shortcuts for this busy season. As you find yourself either short on time or short on inspiration, here are a few tips to consider:

Just because your time is short and your activities are more plentiful, that does not mean that your own creative time has to be completely sacrificed. Using the work that you’ve already done with previous designs, as you work with different photos, papers and embellishments, you’ll find that the result will be fresh, new layouts that you’ll be happy to include in your albums and share with others!

Mini Feature: On the GO Summer Scrapping

By: Nancy Thomas, Design Team Member

The summer is in full swing and along with it the usual fun in the sun activities. Photo opportunities are in abundance. The flowers overflowing in the garden, a day at the park, the awesome beauty of a sudden thunderstorm, children splashing in the pool, adults and kids alike enjoying a day at the beach, husbands proudly displaying the “catch of the day” – the list goes on and on. Unless you have suddenly turned into superwoman, it’s very difficult to find the “me” time to scrap those great sets of photos!

One way for allotted time to scrap is to attend a crop whether at your local scrapbook store, a regular crop group or a spur of the moment get together with friends. A properly packed mini crop bag is essential in order to take advantage of any opportunity to scrap. An “on the go” crop bag could also be used to provide portability of your scrap items throughout the house. For instance, while cooking dinner I will often spread out a project on the kitchen island to work on between tasks or while watching TV with the rest of the family.

To get a jumpstart assemble some simple page kits whenever you have a moment – for each set of photos, place the photos and matching paper/cardstock into a large ziplock bag and any embellishments you know you want to use. If you have time, write down your thoughts about the photos as a jumpstart to your journaling and even draw a quick sketch. The 2-gallon bags that Jackie ships our orders in are perfect for this.

Here are some mini crop bag essentials:

Try not to overpack your bag. And if you can’t keep a bag packed, at least make you a list of your essentials and have it posted near your workspace so you may gather items quickly.

Remember, it’s your summer too so let’s keep on scrapping!
