Spring Into Action

We are starting to see a glimmer of longer days ahead. The sun staying out longer is a sure sign of warmer, more colorful days ahead. A new season is just around the corner, and not just any season, Spring! March 20th is the first day of Spring and the design team is ready to celebrate the change in season by energetically scrapping refreshing new designs. With many bold and beautiful patterns out today - we have dedicated March as the month to dazzle you with the new looks of Spring!

Product Feature: Welcome Spring

By Nancy Thomas, Design Team Member

There is no see season more full of promise than Spring. Spring is a time for new beginnings and renewal. The rites of spring represent the cycle of life for both the plant and animal world.

In most parts of the States we “spring” forward our clocks. In some regions Spring can produce severe weather and it is no myth that April showers bring May flowers. The daffodils peek bravely out of the ground – reaching for the bluest of skies until eventually it seems the whole world is blanketed in blossoms in every color nature has to offer.

Unfortunately though, spring can be tough on those of us who suffer from allergies.

Springtime air is fresh and crisp and we discard our winter wardrobe for much lighter colors. We often do spring cleaning in our homes hoping to emulate the freshness of the outdoors. Saturdays find us at the home and garden stores looking for those perfect plants. Our lawns begin to green up and we sharpen those lawn mower blades in anticipation.

Spring is planting time for farmers and gardeners. It’s Easter for Christians. It’s spring training for baseball players, the Masters at Augusta National for the golfers and spring break for students.

The rainbow of colors and hum of spring activities provide spectacular photographic opportunities. And naturally as scrapbook artists we want to showcase our photos to their best advantage.

The Design Team has created some spring related projects using the following products:

Scrapworks Spring 2006 limited edition set of coordinating patterned papers, fast mat, label stickers and tailored tabs are perfect for your spring and Easter layouts. It’s fun and fresh with its riot of colors in turquoise, hot pink and yellow. The Scrapworks 3/8 Pink Ribbon coordinate with the papers as well as American Crafts Cupcake set and Popsicle #1.

Orange appears to be “the” color this year and it figures prominently in the Gin-X Take a Vacation line. This set includes some great accessories such as Artistic Tape and tabs plus alpha, photo corners and decorative coasters which are lightweight and thin, perfect for adding a bit of dimension to your product while not adding a lot of bulk. Some ribbon choices for this set include 3/8” Solid/Dots in Yellow and Pastel Green, 5/8” Grosgrain Dots in Green/Ivory and Yellow/White, or American Crafts Green Essentials #3, Uptown Green #1 or Downtown Orange #1 just to name a few.

For a more tropical look try Arctic Frog Spring Break. This set includes coordinating papers, alpha stickers, accent stickers, matching cardstock and chips. The chips have a special coating which gives them a glossy look. A Lilly Pad is a set of 6x6 papers perfect for a quick mini album or card making. Matching ribbon will be available soon but in the meantime you might try American Crafts Popsicle #1 and Soda Pop #6, 5/8” Crinkle Ribbon in Pastel Green, Yellow and White, or Ki My Guy Sashes.

Welcome Spring everyone!

Mini Feature: Pink Martini Designs – Luggage Tag Photo Calendar

By Beshka Kueser, Design Team Member

Do you love to alter things? Do you like making gifts and giving them to friends and family? Wouldn’t it be great if you could do these things and let someone else do the hard part? Like figuring out what exactly to alter or create and what products will work best. Lifetime Moments has found the perfect solution for this type of dilemma: Pink Martini Designs.

Pink Martini Designs is a wonderful company that offers its customers kits using the latest products to create the most fantastic little projects. The kits include everything you need to complete a project, eliminating the hassle of preparation. You can get right into creating without worrying about design or what you will use. Each kit contains all the items you will need to complete your project and detailed instructions.

One of Pink Martini Designs fabulous little projects is the Luggage Tag Photo Calendar. All I needed to complete this fun little keepsake was some photos and adhesive. My favorite aspect was how little time it took to complete the project. All the papers were included as well as the luggage tags, clip, and even the ribbon. The papers were wonderful and from some of my favorite manufacturers like Basic Grey and Scrapworks. There was also a set of directions and even a list of suggested papers to use with each month, making the process even speedier. A great thing to have on hand, especially if you are making a last minute gift!

Pink Martini Designs offers several kits, all of which are both functional and fun. They offer a great deal of fresh ideas when it comes to altered projects and are always releasing fresh new ideas. Some of my favorites are the Curio Cabinet and the Altered Tile Board, which would make great gifts either for yourself or someone you love. The Curio Cabinet is a shadowbox which you can adorn with the flowers and papers included and then add your own family photos for a unique and lovely accent piece in your home. The Altered Tile Board is unique and merely a piece of MDF until turned into a masterpiece with one of your favorite photos begging to be displayed! Other fun kits from Pink Martini are the Birthday Calendar Album Kit, Family Post Central, Altered Clock Kit, Autograph Purse Album and Perpetual Calendar Kit.

If you like to alter items and make gifts but don’t always have time to prep, Pink Martini Designs is a great solution. Offering a great selection of kits, you will never be short on ideas. Not to mention that the kits come with everything you need to make that perfect little something to satisfy your creative urges (and many extras to use after you're done!).
