Product Feature: Introducing…Three Bugs in a Rug
By Franny Lesniak, Design Team Member
Hey, everyone! There is a new kid on the block, and the name is 3 BUGS in a RUG! And boy howdy, we can count ourselves lucky that they came to town! {wink, wink}
3 Bugs in a Rug is a fresh new business in the scrapbooking world! Along with several fabulous lines of patterned paper, this “new kid on the block” business has created coordinating sheets of monogram and tag die cuts, as well as matching and catchy phrase stickers that will add just the right touch to your layouts.
Upon first sight you will undoubtedly fall in love with these products! Each of the six product lines has its own distinct and perfectly captured mood. The patterned paper is of cardstock weight, with a white core that lends itself to multiple creative techniques (sanding, torn edges, and more!). The Groovy line is, indeed, very groovy! The colors of this line include the hip and fresh color combo of soft pinks, browns and greens – perfect for layouts of your groovy girl! The sweet and sassy colors in the Sugar line definitely evoke feelings of happiness and energy, whereas French Country will appeal to those having a more sophisticated penchant. The cool blues and neutral colors in the Jovial line are perfect for those dreamy little boy pages. The Spicy line is most definitely spicy! The colors perfectly capture the essence of autumn – perfect for Thanksgiving and fall seasonal layouts! The final line of papers brought to us by this dapper new company is called Cabana, and it has the vitality of summer written all over it - simply “beachy” keen!
Monograms are currently a very big and hot trend in scrapbooking, and 3 Bugs in a Rug sure knows how to do big letters! Perfectly coordinated with their six lines of patterned paper are these fantastic die-cut Monogram letters. The letters are a great big size - approximately three and a half inches tall! Fun and interesting titles can easily be created with these babies. The letters can work alone as a monogram, or you can add some additional visual interest to your title by overlapping and intertwining the letters.
You must check out the sheets of die-cut tags! These can be quickly and easily added to your layout to achieve a perfectly embellished look. Each 12”x12” sheet comes with 18 tags, and for each line of patterned paper there is a coordinating sheet of cardstock tags. Particularly fun are the tags with slits that seemingly invite you to slide them onto a length of ribbon, in essence functioning as an over-sized ribbon slide.
Bringing up the rear of the 3 Bugs in a Rug products are the “Chitchat” stickers. Do you ever find yourself short on journaling energy? If so, you will find these phrase stickers invaluable! With no further effort on your part than applying them to your layout, the Chitchat stickers can be used to effectively tell your story. The phrases simultaneously capture the spirit of each product line while also making coordination of embellishments a breeze.
If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of working with the products from these wonderful new lines by 3 Bugs in a Rug, don’t waste any more time! Once you have tried out the paper, monograms, tags, and Chitchat phrase stickers, you will understand why they are flying off the shelves of the Lifetime Moments shop! Don’t delay any further, and get on with your creations!

Mini Feature: A Charming Addition
By Vickie Brown, Design Team Member
Since their debut a few years ago, one of my very favorite embellishments has been ribbon slides. So easy, so versatile and so unique! Maya Road has added their own flair to this favorite embellishment.
If you’re looking for a classic metallic look, search no further than the Maya Road ribbon slides and clasps. From the unique look of the heart and flower charms and clasps to the clean and classic design of the ribbon slides, these are a must-have embellishment for my scrapping desk! The pewter-color is so easy to use with almost any color or theme. Also recently introduced were bright, vivid colors of ribbon slides in both round and heart-shaped themes. These are such a fun way to add a splash of color to the corner of a photo, to the journaling block or anywhere on your page! The colored slides feature two each of three different shades in each pack, so you don’t have to know exactly which shade of pink, green or orange you need… you have three shades from which to choose!
To demonstrate the versatility of these slides, I’d like you to take a look at a couple of layouts. For my “So You” layout, the design consisted of clean lines with classic green and brown shades (using the new Wild Asparagus “Look at Me” papers, coming soon to LM!). The green heart from the Atlantic City Heart Slide pack was the perfect embellishment to add a splash of color, while keeping with the understated feel of the layout. On my “Frosty” layout, the playful orange slide from the New Orleans City Round Slide pack worked well to add a fun element to the journaling and title block (and the circle doubles as my “O” in the title). For that one, I pulled two ends of the ribbon through the center hole of the slide and tied a little knot, then slid the ribbon through the slide. So easy and it adds so much to the title! (It’s also a perfect shade of orange to work with the new Sassafrass Lass “In Stiches – Bubbly” papers, debuted at CHA and coming soon to the LM store!)
Whether it’s a fun and frolicking page, or a clean and classic design on a card, there’s something for almost everyone with the Maya Road ribbon slides and charms! Be sure to check out the other LM Design Team examples in the “A Charming Addition” gallery using these versatile embellishments!

Getting to Know . . .
I’ve always loved those “Up Close and Personal” features on the Olympics, and so I love being able to get “Up Close and Personal” with some of my fellow LMers – people whose screen names and avatars I recognize, but whom I may not know all that much about.
This week, I got to get a little “up close and personal” with alg35536 – otherwise known as Alice Glassen! She moderates the Break Room forum at Lifetime Moments and hangs out there most often.
Alice has been married for 20 years to her DH Mike. They have two sons together, Curtis (19) and Nicholas (17), and she has a stepson Matthew (21). She and Mike grew up together in Racine, WI. She assembles outboard motors (Evenrude & Johnson).
Alice discovered scrapbooking in 2000 in a quest to do something with pictures from a trip to Florida. She confesses that she adhered those photos with rubber cement, which was supposed to be “OK to use.” And, you will be relieved to know, she has since redone that early album.
Her favorite thing about LM? “I love the fact that there isn’t constant slamming of people here. There’s nothing worse than opening a thread and seeing people rip each other apart. There’s more of a family here and I love that aspect of it.”
The LM gallery also provides Alice with loads of inspiration. She likes looking at other people’s styles. Sometimes it’s the papers that catch her eye, other times it’s the photography, and other times it’s the things “I would never have thought to do.” Her own favorite subject to scrap is their cabin up north.
In addition to scrapbooking, Alice does home improvement. She has refinished woodwork, taped, mudded, and sanded drywall, and she “swings a mean hammer.” She fishes and, yep, baits her own hook.
And, now, the quick quiz:
Color you reach for most when scrapping:green
Embellishment you use too much:transparencies
Tool you wish you’d never bought:a lot of my punches
Favorite spot to scrap in:my computer/scrap room
Do you scrap sitting or standing?: sitting
Something you will never try:shoe polish in my albums
Something you have wanted to try:collage
Scrapfest:

All you need to do is post to this thread about a special kid in your life, because...really...all kids are special! In each posting, post one thing you just LOVE about a child in your life.
