A magnetic calendar with magnetic buttons for the dates, ribbon ties at the top to change the month of the year, and laminated to write in notes with a vis-a-vis marker which can then be wiped clean at the end of each month.
Here are the steps on how to make the calendar:
- Crop out the calendar portion of the KI Memories Organized Calendar Cardstock. (Or simply print out a blank calendar from the internet.)
- Attach the tabs for the days of the week using KI Memories Hopeful Essentials Cardstock Stickers. I printed the day of the week on computer paper. Folded a tab in half and attached it to the computer paper with a tab of adhesive over the text. I then printed the day of the week on the tab. Some colors print better than others. Simply use a black pen to fill in any spots that did not print will. Then use a heat gun to dry the ink.
Pry just the edge of the tab open to slip onto the calendar.
- Attach the calendar and tabs to a sheet of pattern cardstock.
Do not use thin pattern paper.
- I used little squares of pp to denote weekends. I sanded the edges of each square and hand drew in pencil the little squares for the dates.
- Laminate. Any office supply store can laminate the project for you. It will cost about $1.50.
Ribbon ties for the month of the year:
- Place the title September on the top of the calendar...it will extend beyond the pattern paper:) Use a vis-a-vis marker to mark each side of each individual letter where you will be making the slits with a razor to thread the ribbon.
Note...you will be overlapping the "s" and the "e" for it all to fit.
(This spacing will work for the letters of each month. For the shorter months there will be a few ties without letters in them...just tied bows:)
- Cut slits through the laminated calendar with a razor at the markings (or use the MM slot tool) and then wipe clean.
- Cut 8 strips of ribbon of 12" lengths and thread from the back. Tie the letters into place and trim the ribbons.
For the magnetic flower date dots:
- Print 1-31 on plain cardstock with a font size of approximately 12.
Punch the numbers out with a hole punch.
- Glue the Primas on the magnetic button and then glue the numbers atop the flowers. Use MM fabric glue for the Primas so it doesn't seep thru.
- Attach small strips of magnets to the BACK of the calendar behind each date square. This will reinforce the staying power of the magnets.
Slap it on the fridge...you are DONE!!:)
**NOTE!!! Do not use a dry erase pen on the laminated calendar. It will not wipe off. Only use a vis-a-vis marker.
