Care Bear Condo by Miranda Isenberg When I first looked at the Bare Elements Maria half moon purse I saw a rainbow... my youngest son just so happens to be a big care bears fan and has a little collection of small figurines, tables, chairs, etc. and a rainbow is the perfect shape for care bears!! I started out by laying the purse on my patterned paper (the bottom/flat side lined up with the edge of the paper) and tracing it. After cutting that shape out I flipped it over and drew freehand on the backside the next size smaller half moon shape (just followed the curve of the cut edge to make the arch about an inch wide). When I cut this piece out it gave me the first arch AND a smaller throw away piece to trace for the next color in my rainbow. I continued this way until I'd cut out all 6 arches. Once they were all cut out I inked the edges and adhered them to the front of the purse using my KI gloo. After the gloo was dry I used a file to sand all around the outside edges to remove any overlap. A layer of mod podge over the entire front assures the purse will stand up to regular play time. Smile A mixture of stickers (the white AC thickers are outlined in black marker) lets everyone know who this rainbow belongs to! Of course EVERY rainbow needs a little bit of sparkle... MM shimmer stickers and MAMBI rhinestones help make this possible! Not forgetting the back side I traced it onto one piece of paper and covered the entire back with it. Another layer of mod podge to seal. One Rusty Pickle chipboard heart {coming soon}covered in Bazzill bling mimics the heart on the care bears backside. Wink. As a final touch I raided my ribbon scraps and covered the handle in a rainbow of colors (even did the whole thing in ROYGBV order! :D) SUPPLIES:
Maria Purse by Susan Berg I started with a BE Maria purse and painted it with MM Kraft. I only painted it with 1 layer so that it would have an uneven somewhat textured look. I added the MM Kraft papers to the sides, after trimming the purse to make a template, and embellished with several different sized rhinestones. The monogram was made by tracing Basic Grey monograms and I backed Junkitz Tim Holtz buttonz with paper before using as a center for my Heidi Swapp flower. The final touch was using MM brads to add Prima Flowers to each side of the purse. Supplies:
