30 Days of Gifts - DAY 26:

Clipboard Picture Frame

by Tracy Austin, LM Design Team

Turn a mini clipboard into a picture frame that family or friends can easily slip in and out \ favorite photos of the moment.

Instructions:

Cover the clip

Decoupage the clip with pattern paper. First cut a rectangular piece of paper to roughly the length and width of the clip's
face. Clip one edge of the paper and then wrap it up and around the clip. This holds the paper in place in order for you to create a simple embossed template of the clip's shape in the paper by gently running your finger along the edges of the clip. Then remove the paper and make two cuts to allow the paper to wrap around the clip using the creases you made as a template on where and how deep to make the cuts. Then clip the paper back into place and wrapped the flaps around the clip and again use your finger to crease the paper to indicate where the clip's bolts are to then use a paper hole punch to accommodate the bolts.

First sand the clip for the glue and paper to adhere properly to the metal. Cover the clip with some decoupage glue. Submerge the paper in some water and then place it on the clip and with your wet fingers mold the paper around the clip's face. Set the clipboard under a desk lamp for about ten minutes for the paper to dry a bit. Then use a razor to cut the excess paper around the edges of the clip. Then place it back under the desk lamp to dry completely. Then ink the edges and cover with two coats of decoupage glue. Once dry, add the "sweet" KI icicle and the "you inspire me" Scenic Route rub-on.

Clipboard’s face

For the face of the clipboard, cut the paper a bit larger than the clipboard's dimensions. Using a ruler and a razor, make a cut out and
flaps to cover as much of the metal clip plate as possible. Adhere the paper to the clipboard with Memory Tape Runner dry permanent adhesive. Then use a nail file to sand away the paper to fit the shape of the clipboard's edge.

For the title

For the "Muse" title, trace around the Scenic Route stickers with a pen. Cut apart specific letters from MM simply stated word rub-ons to top each letter of the "muse" title. Add the “Me” title.

Transparency overlay
For the transparency overly, I used Denise Docherty's definition brushes to stamp the definition of beautiful. I then erased the center using a vignetted box eraser tool. I then printed it out on a transparency. I topped the title [beautiful] with a Scenic Route rub-on.

Slip the photo behind the transparency and clip into place...and then swap it with another when the mood strikes you!
