30 Days of Gifts - DAY 25:

My Book 2007 Planner

by Wendy Chang , LM Design Team

I am a huge fan of Ali Edwards’ philosophy of capturing the every day. I love looking at the random “day in the life” photo montages on blogs like Susan Berg’s. I had plans, for 2007, of using some sort of calendar to track the everyday of our life, but I was concerned about durability, etc.

When I saw these My Book planners at Memory Trends, My Book 2007 Large Planner I was so excited. With thick plastic covers, durable spines and designed “page protector” pages already inside, I knew this would be perfect to simply slip into my purse to capture the every day.

This is a perfect gift for anyone close to your family – grandparents, godparents, anyone who would be interested in following along your life (or who would want to track their own). Everyone needs a date book. And this one serves a double purpose.

This planner is mine, but I will be making more for presents (mom, my sister, etc). At 6x8 (large) and 5x6 (for the smaller sized planner My Book 2007 Small Planner), they are quick and easy gift to maintain, if you choose to mail an insert every month. If you want to give a complete gift at the beginning, simply tailor the insert pages with blank layouts for each month.

I used regular office supply Avery tabs, again, because I wanted it to be very durable. I inserted strips cut from the PP, and anchored them with mini brads.

Here is my cover: the dimensions are roughly 6x8 (I cut it slightly smaller to accommodate the bulk and allow for ease of slipping it in). I cut patterns from the paper, and layered it, after inking the edges.

Basic Grey’s Blush was just perfect for the look I wanted (paper, tags and letter stickers). I accented it the Making Memories MM Cheeky Jigsaw frame, and the Heidi Swapp Rectangle Icee bling Heidi Swapp Bling Jewel Art .

Here are the inside covers, explaining my goals:

I kept the Basic Grey’s Blush for continuity, but now, I mixed in Bam Pop’s fun fun fun line Bam Pop! vol 1 Set, Sassafrass Wilikers paper, Stamps from Autumn Leaves Journaling Stamps Stamp by Katie Pertiet, Gypsy Style Stamp by Rhonna Farrer, and Heidi Swapp Heidi Swapp Clear Stamps, and finally, the My Minds Eye crown (this is the die cut version: Handsome Crown Die Cut).

On a day to day basis, I will be tracking what we’re doing, and attaching the bits of memorabilia of everyday (the calendar pages start in December, so I’ve started…):

And in the page protector part (there is a front and a back), I will be inserting a photo collage of the events of the month, with memorabilia/ephemera from the everyday, etc…. This was November.

I loved how this turned out.
