The Bare Elements Rick Wine Case is such a fun shape that, inspired by Wendy Chang's clutch purse mini album, I used it to make a mini album for my sister, who's having her first baby this Spring. The case is big enough to hold 12" x 4" pages that stand up, so with one decorated for each month, this gift will make for a ready-made first year baby album for my new niece. The inside pages are ready for the new parents to use... complete with a photo mat for a photo each month and plenty of space for journaling those important events, thoughts and feelings!

The outside of the case is larger than 12" wide, which is what all of my patterned paper is, so I layered strips underneath of the coordinating paper, then placed the larger 12" piece on top of the small strips, making a border around the larger piece. Since the case opens, the unusual shape at the end was no problem... after tracing the circle, I opened the case and then traced the shape of the "swirl" as well. Everything was then adhered with Modge Podge and then I added the ribbon back onto the case. By using the Sweetwater Family Ties line, matching was a breeze. An unusual and adorable minialbum for that special someone!
