30 Days of Gifts - DAY 22:

Megan's Jewels Travis Case

by Vickie Brown , LM Design Team

My daughter has recently entered the world of earrings and she LOVES them. I thought the Creative Imaginations Bare Elements Travis Case would make a great jewelry box for her, with three layers that "lift" out, each layer with different size divisions in it.

After measuring the sides, I cut and adhered the patterned paper (here I used Arctic Frog's Ski Bunny line using Modge Podge. Using a sponge brush, I coat one side lightly with Modge Podge, and also apply a coat to the back of the patterned paper, then smooth out to remove air bubbles.

I tried to pry that darn handle off as well and thought I just didn't figure out the trick. To use one sheet of patterned paper to cover the top, while still working around the handle, here's what I did:
measure and cut your patterned paper to fit the top of the box

mark a line at the edge of the paper where the handle will be

cut a straight line, straight into the paper up to where the handle will go

cut small "notches" into the patterned paper, then carefully slide it onto the lid

The slits in the paper are smooth and once adhered, the pattern just blends right in and the cuts into the paper are not even noticable.

To finish the outside, I personalized the case using alphabet stickers and adhered ribbon to the remaining three sides of the lid. For the inserts, I adhered colorful ribbon around the outer sides of the insert.
