Planner by Sonya Shaw
For the Inside Pages:
- Using chipboard (the chipboard you get with your LM orders are perfect for this and so easy to cut) I cut 14 pieces using a box knife into 6 1/2” x 5 ½” rectangles.
- Adhered the patterned paper of choice to each piece, keep in mind seasons and try to coordinate papers with the appropriate months. The options are endless and in the store you can find a wide variety of paper to fit your needs.
- I then punched 3 ¼” punches down each side to hold my metal rings.
- Using google or any of the popular search sites will work, do a search for free printable calendars and a huge list will pop up. Find the one that you like, and save it to your disk.
- Open the image into your photo program and you can adjust it to fit your needs, for me, I just simply added a few little things I liked.
- Using google, once again you can find a number of note and/or memo pad templates as well, and as such with the calendar, you can open and alter using your photo program to fit your needs.
- Now you are ready to print your calendar and memo papers. To do this I simply opened the image using windows explorer, select the print option at the bottom, which will bring up a dialog box, check the images you wish to print. It will then bring up a box to select the size you would like to print. For mine I printed the 3.5x5 size, then at the bottom select print a total of 4 images on one page. Easy and ready to cut so you can adhere to your pages.
- Once printed and cut to size, adhere to your chipboard pieces that have been cut to size and decorated with paper.
- You are now ready to embellish each page as you wish, insert the metal rings, attach beautiful ribbons and have an adorable little planner to give that everyone is sure to love!
For the Cover and Back:
I covered each with patterned paper, just as I did on each of the other pages. Then using diamond glaze I brushed on a thin coat, just enough to adhere my transparency. Allowed that to dry for a moment, then embellished. After embellishing, I brushed a thicker coat of diamond glaze over the entire front surface, to protect it while in my purse. You can add as many layers as you wish, the more the sturdier. (NOTE: Modge Podge or other similar products would work just as well as diamond glaze)
SUPPLIES:
Advent Calendar by Nicole Keller
This project is a personalized advent calendar. Since you are designing it with the recipient in mind, you can place dingbats, quotes, images, scripture verses, or personalized messages behind the little doors. How about a calendar with the grandkids pictures for that hard-to-buy-for grandparent?
Supplies
- Stickers or die cuts for title and numbers (Sizzix and Creative Imaginations were used in the sample)
- Pomegranate, Raven, Lily Pond, Jade, and White Bazzill cardstocks
- Holly punch or die
- Red beads, sequins, or rhinestones for holly berries
- Pictures, quotes, scriptures, stickers, dingbats, etc. to place behind doors (The dingbats used in the sample are by David Walker)
- Calendar template (CTMH) or 1 inch square punch and ruler
- Exacto knife and mat
- Pencil and ruler
Finished size 9.25 inches x 11.75 inches
Instructions
- Create front of advent calendar from pomegranate cardstock. Determine placement of title window and smaller doors and trace onto cardstock using pencil. I used a calendar template from Close To My Heart, but you can also use a square punch and a scrap piece of cardstock to make a template for the doors. When all items are correctly positioned, cut large window on all sides and remove, cut doors on three sides and gently fold open. Hints: You may want to work on the back of the cardstock to eliminate needing to erase pencil lines. I made a formal type calendar, but why not try a wacky one with non-traditional colors and little doors scattered everywhere? You calendar can be rectangular, square, or shaped.)
- Place calendar front on a piece of white cardstock. Lightly trace the openings in the pomegranate cardstock onto the white cardstock. Trim pictures, quotes, dingbats, etc. to fit behind each door and adhere them to the white cardstock background. When finished, adhere the white cardstock to the back of the pomegranate cardstock so images show in each door. To create a finished look, adhere a piece of raven cardstock to the back of the calendar
- Adhere title and numbers using stickers or die cuts. Accent title with holly leaves and berries.
