14 Days of Valentine's Gifts - Day 6:

Valentine Box

Amy Clutch by Kate Jurasevich

This clutch is a Valentine for a good friend!  It will be filled with candy for a sweet Valentine gift! I first painted all inside/outside corners of the Amy Clutch that I knew would show in my finished product, and b/c wrapping the edges with paper would be tricky! Using Basic Grey patterned papers, I Mod Podged the papers to all bare sides of the Amy Clutch - inside and out.   Luckily, the clasp on the front is easily removed for easy altering! You can see by the photo, I punched holes through the back and set We R Memory Keepers big eyelets for my ribbon to tie through.  Using misc KI Memories ribbon, I tied them through the loops.   Interior also decorated with ribbons and My Minds Eye letter stickers.

A Valentine box for a snuggly by Tracy Austin

A highly decorative Valentine box for an avant-garde (and much loved) Valentine (a.k.a. Skye, age 6).  Inside, a bed of roses to hide a Valentine snuggly.

Bare Elements Amy Clutch Purse

American Crafts Thickers ::  Rootbeer Float Pink and Smoothie White

Silk Roses

Hot glue gun

Paint and brush

-Remove metal clasp (very easy to do).

-Paint inside and outside edges with hot pink paint.

-I used Therm-o-Web’s Super Tape to attach the paper to the outside.  A super strong tape that eliminates the mess of liquid glue!  So easy!  Simply apply a strip of tape along the four edges of the side that you are covering.  (Apply the tape close to the edges to ensure the paper is adhered seamlessly to the box.)   Line the paper up to one edge and then smooth it around the box.  Done.  The paper is firmly attached!

-Place the top of the open box on pattern paper as a template for the ovals.  Cut out four and then attach them to the top and bottom of the box.

-Remove roses from their stems and hot glue them to the inside of the box.
-Hot glue two more roses to the top of the box.

-Hot glue two bows to the top roses to hide the stems and glue.

-Apply Super Tape to the back seam of the box.  Then wrap ribbon around the “hinged” seam and tied a bow with a dangling KI Memories chipboard rose.

-Reattach the clasp.

-Add a vertical title and tie with a bow.  Then fill with treats for your Valentine.
